The Medina is the typical market place of North Africa. It has a central role in Mediterranean cultures, where everyone meets to trade, exchange, and above all to communicate.
The medina in Sousse is the most magnificient market in the Maghreb, and it is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage. The medina is a must-go for every tourist in this part of the world, and surely the ultimate test to your bargaining skills.
Sousse stands by the sea, and since the Antiquity the city has been in the center of trading routes from Africa to Europe. The port has always been a gateway between those two worlds.
The commercial activities have been moved north to to the capitol Tunis, but the hold harbor remains intact and it is a nice place to visit.
Sousse is also famous for its long beaches of white sand, which are a major attraction to tourists from all over the world.
